New Family-Friendly London Attraction Opens This Summer

London’s eagerly awaited new attraction, Shrek’s Adventure! London, opens this July, and tickets are already on sale. Located on the South Bank, the attraction’s ticket office is a showpiece: an edible, ogre-sized Gingerbread House constructed from 700 real gingerbread biscuit tiles and 100 kilograms of icing.

The summer debut of Shrek’s Adventure! London is expected to draw both international and domestic visitors to the capital. The experience brings the beloved DreamWorks character to life with a new interactive journey featuring fairy-tale characters, themed shows and sets, a 4D bus ride, dramatic special effects and original DreamWorks animation.

“We are confident that the addition of Shrek’s Adventure! London along with a vibrant and diverse calendar of summer events will further boost London’s visitor economy as the capital continues to go from strength to strength,” said Gordon Innes, CEO of London & Partners.

Alongside this family-friendly opening, London’s summer program includes several other highlights. The third annual Prudential RideLondon returns as a two-day cycling festival designed for families and riders of all levels. The Sunset Safari at ZSL London Zoo offers the rare chance to observe more than 750 species after normal hours, while The Summer Opening at Buckingham Palace opens the State Rooms to visitors, showcasing the spaces used for state visits, receptions, garden parties, investitures and private audiences.

Cultural programming continues at central institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, where the exhibition Portraits of an Icon examines the life and career of Audrey Hepburn. Together, these events create a lively, varied summer season that appeals to families, culture-seekers and visitors exploring London.
