Google Travel Adds Vacation Rentals: Find & Book Homes Now

Following Google’s relaunch of its hotel booking site, the company has expanded its lodging search to include alternative accommodations, increasing competition with established travel platforms.

Google’s lodging search now covers more than traditional hotels and motel rooms. A new “vacation rentals” option highlights private and whole-property stays—villas, apartments, cabins and houses—catering to travelers seeking longer or more private stays than a typical one- or two-night hotel booking.

To populate this inventory, Google aggregates property listings and details from multiple booking partners, including Expedia, HomeAway, Hotels.com, TripAdvisor and VRBO. The search interface presents thousands of listings worldwide and provides tools to refine results by price, availability and amenities. Users can also view photos and read reviews for individual properties to help compare options.

At launch, Airbnb listings are not included in Google’s new search-and-book feature, though that could change if future agreements are reached.

By integrating vacation rentals alongside hotels, Google aims to simplify travel planning for users who want a wider range of lodging options in one place. The unified search experience is designed to make it easier to discover, filter and book different types of accommodations without switching between multiple sites.

Travelers using Google’s lodging search will find familiar controls—date and location filters, price ranges and amenity toggles—while benefiting from a broader selection that reflects the growing demand for non-hotel stays. As the feature evolves and partnerships expand, Google’s listings are likely to offer even more variety and coverage across destinations worldwide.
