If you planned to use a Malaysia Airlines lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in the coming months, note that the carrier has temporarily closed two of its lounges for scheduled upgrades.
The Regional Golden Lounge in the Main Terminal closed on May 12, and the Domestic Golden Lounge will close on June 2. Both lounges are expected to reopen on August 15 following a three-month renovation aimed at improving facilities and passenger comfort.
During the closure period, eligible passengers can access several alternative lounges across KLIA. Business class travelers and Enrich Platinum, Enrich Gold and oneworld members are invited to use the 24-hour International Golden Lounge in the Satellite building near the Aerotrain. In addition, the Malaysia Airport CIP lounge on the Satellite Terminal’s Mezzanine floor is available for qualifying guests.
Passengers on domestic flights can use a temporary B3 Area lounge located at the B3 gate in the Main Terminal. Oneworld members also have access to the Cathay Pacific Lounge on the Satellite building mezzanine near gates C21–C27. A Plaza Premium Lounge is available across the satellite building boardwalk near gates C11–C17 for travelers seeking another lounge option.
These temporary arrangements ensure continued lounge access while Malaysia Airlines completes upgrades to enhance the customer experience. If you plan to travel through KLIA during the renovation period, check your eligibility for alternate lounges before departure and allow extra time to reach satellite or mezzanine locations within the terminal.
