Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to open its first hotel in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Slated to begin welcoming guests in January 2015, the Hyatt Regency Tashkent will be positioned beside the city’s National Library and is planned to offer 300 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a bar, a spa, a fitness center and dedicated meeting facilities.
Peter Norman, Hyatt’s senior vice president of real estate and development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, commented on the project: “We are delighted by the plans for the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Uzbekistan. The CIS is establishing itself as both an international business hub and an attractive tourist destination, and we believe the Hyatt Regency brand and the enviable cosmopolitan location will attract international travelers visiting Tashkent. The announcement demonstrates our commitment to growing our brand presence in new markets.”
The Hyatt Regency Tashkent will strengthen Hyatt’s footprint in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Hyatt already operates Regency hotels in Yekaterinburg, Russia; Kiev, Ukraine; Baku, Azerbaijan; Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; and Dushanbe, Tajikistan. In addition, Hyatt has several properties under development within the region, including Hyatt Regency Sochi, Hyatt Regency Vladivostok Golden Horn, Hyatt Burny Vladivostok, Hyatt Regency Moscow Petrovsky Park and Hyatt Regency Rostov-on-Don.
This new opening reflects Hyatt’s broader strategy to expand into emerging markets across the CIS, targeting locations that combine growing business activity with increasing leisure travel. With its central location in Tashkent and a full range of amenities aimed at both business and leisure guests, the Hyatt Regency is positioned to serve international visitors and local travelers seeking modern hospitality offerings.
Key features planned for the Hyatt Regency Tashkent:
- Approximately 300 rooms and suites designed for comfort and convenience
- Two on-site restaurants offering diverse cuisine
- Bar and social spaces for guests and visitors
- Full-service spa and fitness center
- Meeting and event spaces suitable for conferences and private functions
- Prime location adjacent to the National Library and within Tashkent’s cosmopolitan district
As the hotel moves toward its opening date, the development is expected to contribute to the city’s hospitality capacity and support growing demand from business travelers, regional tourists and international visitors. The Hyatt Regency brand’s global standards for service and facilities aim to complement Tashkent’s evolving status as a regional hub for commerce and culture.
