The Renwick Hotel, a historic property in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, recently joined Hilton’s Curio Collection — a curated group of distinctive 4- and 5-star hotels around the world. As the first New York City hotel to become part of this global collection, The Renwick offers travelers an authentic urban experience rooted in local culture and history.
Located on East 40th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, the 173-room hotel opened last year. It sits just two blocks from Grand Central Terminal and within easy walking distance of Bryant Park, placing guests in the middle of Midtown’s transport links, dining, and cultural attractions.
“New York is one of the world’s most vibrant and dynamic cities, offering travelers singular moments unlike any other cultural destination,” said Mark Nogal, global head of Curio — A Collection by Hilton. “The Renwick is an ideal addition to Curio’s portfolio in Manhattan. Its artful, luxurious design reflects our commitment to offering travelers handpicked properties with distinct character and stories to tell.”
The hotel is a careful renovation of the former Bedford, a long-stay property built in the 1920s that once hosted literary figures such as John Steinbeck and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The renovated interiors draw inspiration from the building’s history as a residence for creative minds, evoking the spirit and aesthetics of the Roaring Twenties.
Literary and artistic references are woven throughout the property. Rooms feature artist-inspired desks complete with writing paper and ink, original works by local artists, and TV stands styled like easels. Studio rooms and suites are stocked with books by authors who once stayed at the hotel, reinforcing the connection to the building’s cultural past while offering modern comforts for today’s travelers.
Combining historic charm with contemporary amenities, The Renwick provides a boutique experience that appeals to guests seeking something beyond the typical chain hotel. Its central Midtown location, thoughtful design, and curated artistic touches make it a compelling option for both visitors and locals looking for a memorable stay in New York City.
