Autograph Collection Opens New Hotels Across Europe

Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, a curated portfolio of independent hotels, continues to grow in Europe with new properties in Zurich and Barcelona. Both hotels were scheduled to open in spring 2015 and bring distinctive design, local character and modern amenities to two of the continent’s most dynamic cities.

The 245-room Kameha Grand Zurich is the first Autograph Collection hotel planned for Switzerland. Designed to blend contemporary style with local influence, the hotel will offer three distinct dining concepts, generous meeting facilities and a shisha lounge featuring full-flavored Arabic shisha and tobacco. These features aim to appeal to both business and leisure travelers seeking a bold, sensory hotel experience in Zurich.

The Cotton House, Barcelona, occupies an iconic 19th-century building and is set to become an 83-room boutique hotel. The property will combine historic architecture with modern comforts and will include a rooftop pool and terrace, plus several intimate lounge areas. Its blend of heritage and contemporary amenities is intended to capture Barcelona’s creative spirit and appeal to guests looking for a refined, locally rooted stay.

“Autograph Collection is known for creating authentic experiences that are centered in rich personality and the spirit of independence. We feel that these new locations in Barcelona and Zurich, with their prolific cultural heritage and sense of European sophistication, are a perfect fit for the collection,” said John Licence, brand leader in Europe for Autograph Collection.

Both hotels emphasize design-led environments and amenities tailored to the expectations of modern travelers. The Kameha Grand Zurich focuses on bold culinary offerings and event space suitable for conferences and social gatherings, while The Cotton House highlights historic charm, relaxation and intimate public spaces. Together, they deepen the Autograph Collection’s presence in Europe and expand options for travelers seeking hotels that combine individuality with consistent quality standards.

These additions reflect a broader strategy to partner with distinctive properties that showcase local culture and architectural character while delivering the service and standards associated with a global hotel company. By introducing an Autograph Collection hotel to Switzerland and enhancing its footprint in Spain, the brand aims to attract guests who prioritize experiential travel and carefully designed accommodations.

Both properties were announced with an emphasis on personalized experiences, thoughtful design and location-driven offerings that resonate with their respective cities. Upon opening, travelers to Zurich and Barcelona will have new choices for boutique-style stays that integrate local flavor with the amenities expected by contemporary visitors.
