SAS has introduced several notable enhancements to its EuroBonus rewards program, enabling members to share points and qualify for lifetime Gold status.
One of the key changes is the launch of Point Sharing, a free feature that lets members pool EuroBonus points with family or friends. A member who creates a Point Sharing account can invite up to seven people to join the group. Group members combine their points to reach rewards faster and can spend the pooled balance on any of the options available through EuroBonus, including flights, upgrades, hotel stays, or partner offers.
There are a few practical rules for participation. Each member can belong to only one Point Sharing group at a time, and groups are active for a minimum six-month period before a member can change or leave. This balance of flexibility and stability is intended to make it simple to save toward shared goals while preventing frequent switching that could complicate administration.
In addition to Point Sharing, SAS has introduced Lifetime Gold membership. This new recognition can be earned in two ways: by accruing the required number of points over time, or by completing the required number of qualifying flight segments across a span of ten consecutive years. Lifetime Gold grants members the benefits and privileges of EuroBonus Gold status for life, recognizing long-term loyalty with a permanent upgrade to that elite tier.
The airline has framed these changes as responses to evolving traveler habits. Many customers now combine travel and spending across family and social circles, collecting points from flights, car rentals, shopping, and partner promotions. Point Sharing is intended to accelerate reaching tangible rewards—such as a short holiday, an upgrade, or a free hotel night—by letting members pool resources.
Johan Mägi, head of EuroBonus at SAS, commented on the new features, noting that enabling shared point balances reflects how modern travelers collaborate and collect rewards together. He emphasized that Lifetime Gold is a special acknowledgement for consistently loyal customers, allowing them to enjoy EuroBonus Gold service and privileges indefinitely as a thank-you for continued patronage.
SAS indicated that these updates are part of a broader program refresh and that additional improvements are planned for the coming year. The announcement suggests the airline will continue refining EuroBonus to better serve members’ needs and to provide more flexible ways to earn and redeem rewards in the future.
With the introduction of Point Sharing and Lifetime Gold, EuroBonus now offers both collaborative earning options and a lasting elite recognition. Members who travel frequently with SAS or who make use of partner services can benefit from pooling points to accelerate redemptions, while long-term customers can aim for the security and perks of lifetime elite status.
These changes are designed to be intuitive and accessible. Point Sharing simplifies saving for group goals, and Lifetime Gold rewards sustained loyalty without requiring ongoing annual qualification. Together, they represent a meaningful enhancement to the EuroBonus program that aligns with how many travelers now plan and pay for travel experiences.
