New Atlantic Club Opens on Portugal’s Coast: What to Know

Spanning 35 acres along Portugal’s picturesque coastline, Atlantic Club Comporta readies for its summer debut. Located about an hour from Lisbon on the western coast, this private luxury residential club blends high-end real estate design with the services and amenities of a boutique hotel.

“Atlantic Club Comporta was created in response to a fundamental shift in how people want to live and travel. Owners and guests today are seeking space, privacy, and a genuine sense of belonging,” said Dietrich E. Rogge, founder of Atlantic Club Comporta. “Comporta has long embodied that spirit, with its understated beauty and resistance to overdevelopment. Atlantic Club is first and foremost a private residential community — one that brings people together through shared values and a deep connection to place — while offering the amenities, services and experiences typically associated with luxury hospitality.”

Committed to sustainability and community, the club offers a range of bespoke services including housekeeping, garden maintenance, private chefs and dedicated concierge support. Shared amenities are designed to foster connection and well-being, featuring a central clubhouse, an on-site marketplace and a curated program of wellness experiences.

The villas, designed for relaxed indoor–outdoor living, range from four to eight bedrooms and include private pools, terraces and saunas. Interiors are by acclaimed designer and architect Jacques Grange, while the landscaping programme is led by noted garden designer Madison Cox.

“There’s great beauty in simplicity,” Cox explained. “I want to capture that spirit Jacques is imagining and create a palette of plants, and there is a multitude of resources in southern Portugal: the pomegranate and fig trees, the lavender and grasses that flourish here. I start with observing the winds, the plants, the soil.”
