Old Jewish Cemetery, Prague, Czech Republic
Prague’s Old Jewish Cemetery is one of Europe’s oldest surviving Jewish burial grounds, with graves dating back to the 15th century. What makes the cemetery especially haunting is the dense clustering of tombstones: successive burials were layered in a confined space, resulting in as many as a dozen graves stacked in one spot. The crowded headstones, weathered inscriptions, and narrow pathways create a somber, powerful atmosphere that resonates with centuries of memory.
