The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center in Abu Dhabi opened in 2007 and soon became a major center for worship and culture. Its modern design draws large numbers of visitors who come to admire its white marble facades, intricate mosaics and expansive courtyards. Small groups are welcome, and official guided tours are offered to explain the mosque’s architecture, calligraphy and cultural importance.
