A beautiful, natural setting year-round, The Garden at Newfields in Indianapolis lights up for winter with the spectacular Winterlights display. The garden is part of the 152‑acre Indianapolis Museum of Art campus, and Winterlights will be on view from Nov. 23 through Jan. 5.
“More than two million lights illuminate The Garden at Newfields, bringing Winterlights to life,” said Jonathan Wright, The Ruth Lilly Director, The Garden and Fairbanks Park. “We designed Winterlights to engage all the senses — grab a warm cup of cocoa and follow the soundtrack through magical moments across the garden aglow. Dance alongside the Landscape of Light where hundreds of thousands of lights are programmed to music by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and be awed by century‑old trees wrapped in lights to the very tips of their branches. Equally perfect for date night or a big family gathering, a stroll through Winterlights is sure to create lifelong memories.”

This holiday season marks the display’s eighth year and will include seasonal musical favorites, including a special rendition of “The Nutcracker, Yuletide Celebration.”

Visitors can follow The Twinkling Trail through Color Blossoms and beneath 100‑year‑old trees dressed in lights. Inside Lilly House, festive holiday decorations add to the atmosphere. The Culinary Campsite at Garden Terrace offers a range of seasonal treats: giant chocolate‑chip cookies, gingerbread popcorn and s’mores kits, as well as a selection of hot cocoas and ciders. For adults, optional warming additions are available.
In addition to the on‑site beverages, spiced plum cider from Ash & Elm Cider Co. and a seasonal Electric Reindeer brew from Sun King Brewing Co. will be offered, giving visitors several festive drink options to enjoy while they explore the illuminated gardens.
