Many business travelers appreciate the opportunity to see new places through their work, but most find the travel process itself frustrating.
A recent study by the Global Business Travel Association Foundation and travel reservation company Sabre found that the time spent getting to meetings and other work commitments is the most difficult part of business travel, cited by 62 percent of respondents.
The report also listed several common pain points:
- Layovers (47 percent)
- Changing a flight or train reservation during the trip (42 percent)
- Uncomfortable or unsuitable work environments while traveling (40 percent)
- Preparing expense reports (34 percent)
- Adjusting lodging reservations during the trip (34 percent)
- Working away from the office (20 percent)
When asked what improves the travel experience, travelers pointed to convenient and comfortable hotels, non‑stop flights, flexible booking options and paid time off to offset long trips as top perks.
“Ultimately those who travel want to save time when possible, be productive, and have a pleasant experience while accomplishing their business goals,” said Michael W. McCormick, executive director and chief operating officer of GBTA. “A better understanding of the challenges business travelers face can help organizations better serve their road warriors as they work to provide the right tools, resources and policies.”
