The Westin Hotels & Resorts brand, part of Starwood, will expand its presence in the Middle East with the opening of The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa in late 2014. Ideally located in Doha’s Central Business District and just 15 minutes from Doha International Airport (DOH), the new hotel is positioned close to leading city attractions such as the Museum of Islamic Art, Education City and the Al Mushreib urban regeneration project in downtown Doha.
The Westin Doha will offer 365 well-appointed guestrooms, including 92 executive rooms, five private bungalows and two presidential suites. Each room will be furnished with signature Westin amenities such as the Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Shower, along with modern in-room technology to ensure a comfortable and connected stay for both business and leisure travelers.
Guests will find a variety of dining options on site, with five distinctive venues planned. These will include an all-day restaurant serving international cuisine, a grill for casual and refined dining, an authentic Thai restaurant, a jazz cocktail bar for evening relaxation and a sports bar for live matches and social gatherings. The culinary choices aim to satisfy diverse tastes and provide vibrant outlets for hotel guests and local visitors alike.
Wellness and recreation are central to the hotel’s offering. The Westin Doha will feature a full-service spa with 10 treatment rooms, designed to deliver restorative therapies and personalized treatments. For active guests, the property will include three swimming pools and a fitness center equipped with state-of-the-art exercise machines. These facilities will support the Westin brand’s focus on well-being and an active lifestyle during travel.
For meetings, conferences and special events, the hotel will offer extensive event space tailored to a wide range of functions. Plans include a large ballroom suitable for gala events and weddings, 10 flexible meeting rooms ideal for corporate gatherings and breakout sessions, and a dedicated business center to support professional needs. The combination of meeting venues and modern support services will position the hotel as a strong option for corporate and event planners in Doha.
The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa will join Starwood’s existing portfolio in Doha, which already includes the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, W Doha Hotel & Residences and The St. Regis Doha. The addition of The Westin further strengthens Starwood’s footprint in Qatar and across the Middle East. With this expansion, the Middle East becomes the second region, after North America, where Starwood operates all nine of its distinct hotel brands.
The Westin’s arrival in Doha reflects ongoing development and investment in the city’s hospitality sector, catering to growing demand from business travelers, tourists and event organizers. Its strategic location in the Central Business District will make it convenient for guests attending meetings in the downtown area, while proximity to cultural institutions and educational hubs enhances its appeal for visitors exploring the city.
Overall, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa is being developed to deliver a full-service luxury experience that balances comfortable, modern accommodations with diverse dining, comprehensive wellness amenities and versatile event spaces. The property aims to meet the needs of international and regional travelers seeking reliable brand standards, thoughtful design and convenient access to Doha’s key destinations.
