Swiss International Air Lines has unveiled its 2013/2014 winter schedule, which runs through March 29, 2014. The seasonal plan introduces new destinations and adjustments across the carrier’s network to better match demand during the winter months.
From Zurich (ZRH), SWISS launched daily service to Kyiv (KBP) using Airbus A320 aircraft, connecting Switzerland’s hub with the Ukrainian capital. Service to Miami (MIA) was increased from seven flights per week to ten, providing more options for travelers between Switzerland and Florida.
Geneva (GVA) sees notable expansion with six additions to the route map: Stockholm (ARN) up to twice weekly; Oslo (OSL) up to three times weekly; Gothenburg (GSE) up to twice weekly; Belgrade (BEG) up to twice weekly; London Gatwick (LGW) up to three times weekly; and Marrakech (RAK) up to three times weekly. These routes broaden Geneva’s short- and medium-haul connections across Europe and North Africa.
At Basel (BSL), SWISS temporarily suspended winter services to Rome (FCO) and reduced frequencies to Barcelona (BCN) and Prague (PRG) by one weekly flight each. The carrier plans to restore all three routes to their full summer frequencies for the 2014 summer schedule.
Across the winter timetable SWISS will serve 76 destinations with a fleet of 91 aircraft. In addition to scheduled network routes, the airline will offer seasonal vacation flights from Zurich in partnership with Edelweiss, expanding options to leisure destinations.
Long-haul winter destinations on the schedule include Tampa Bay (TPA), Cape Town (CPT), Phuket (HKT), Malé (MLE), Mauritius (MRU) and Punta Cana (PUJ), maintaining a mix of business and leisure long-haul services throughout the season.
