Frontier Adds New Routes and Introduces Premium Travel Class

Frontier Airlines has launched a new offering called Green Class, positioning it as a more sustainable travel option for customers. The carrier emphasizes its fuel-efficiency credentials, noting that it is, on average, 39 percent more fuel-efficient than other U.S. airlines, and promotes Green Class as a way to align passenger choices with environmental values.

Green Class is designed to deliver a more comfortable and eco-conscious experience. Key features include guaranteed overhead bin space, complimentary WiFi for the flight, Planet Priority seating that provides extra personal space, and amenity items chosen with sustainability in mind. These elements aim to balance passenger comfort with reduced environmental impact.

Barry Biffle, president and CEO of Frontier Airlines, described the new product as a response to changing consumer preferences. “Consumers are now looking for choices that align with the values they hold,” he said, highlighting the airline’s intention to provide options that let travelers integrate sustainable choices into their trips.

Alongside the Green Class rollout, Frontier is expanding its route network from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) with service starting this winter and continuing into early 2020. The carrier begins daily flights from Newark to Las Vegas (LAS), Miami (MIA) and San Juan (SJU) on Nov. 14. Also on Nov. 14, Frontier will introduce twice-daily flights between Newark and Orlando (MCO). Beginning Dec. 10, the airline will add daily service from Newark to Palm Beach (PBI), Phoenix (PHX) and Atlanta (ATL).

Frontier has also announced a broader Newark expansion planned for 2020. New routes scheduled to start next year include Tampa (TPA), Punta Cana (PUJ), Cancun (CUN), Denver (DEN), Ontario (ONT), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). These additions reflect Frontier’s wider strategy to grow its presence in major markets and holiday destinations.

The Green Class launch and the Newark expansion are presented by Frontier as complementary steps: the new cabin option targets passengers seeking both convenience and a lower environmental footprint, while the route growth increases travel choices from a major East Coast gateway. Together, they aim to strengthen Frontier’s competitive position by offering differentiated services and expanded connectivity.

Passengers considering Green Class can expect the practical perks of guaranteed overhead storage and more personal space, which can be especially valuable on busier flights. Complimentary onboard WiFi supports both leisure and business travelers who need connectivity, and the eco-conscious service items are intended to reduce single-use waste and highlight the airline’s broader sustainability messaging.

As the airline rolls out these changes, travelers may find Green Class attractive if they prioritize a blend of affordability, convenience and improved environmental performance. The enhanced Newark schedule also provides new point-to-point options for travelers in the Northeastern United States and those connecting through New York’s airport system.

Frontier’s announcements underscore a continuing trend in the airline industry: offering products and route choices that respond to customer demand for sustainability, comfort and more direct flight options. By coupling Green Class with network growth out of Newark, the airline is aiming to meet evolving passenger expectations while expanding its footprint in key markets.
