Arrival/Check-In: I arrived after midnight to a lively lobby with the adjoining restaurant and bar still active. Check-in was quick and efficient, taking only a few minutes. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, offering assistance with questions about the hotel or the city throughout my stay.
Guest Quarters: I stayed in one of the hotel’s Fabulous rooms. The generous space included a king-sized bed, a work desk, a spacious closet, multiple seating options and a striking bathroom separated from the sleeping area by a thick privacy curtain.
The bathroom was among the largest I’ve encountered in a hotel room: a wide vanity, an oversized tub, a rain shower and excellent lighting, with plenty of floor space that made getting ready comfortable. Bliss Spa toiletries were replenished daily, and a plush W Hotels robe hung near the glass-enclosed shower.
The décor felt stylish and modern, combining bold patterns with neon and metallic accents while remaining fresh and balanced. Large windows were concealed behind heavy drapery that, when opened, revealed a pleasant view of Victoria Square Park across the street. Natural light brightened the room, complementing the generous artificial lighting throughout. The desk sat along the window wall beside a comfortable chaise, and at the foot of the bed an upholstered bench and a small table held local magazines.
Services/Amenities: The hotel offers a wide range of amenities designed to make a stay effortless. The 24-hour FIT fitness center provides equipment for many workout styles. The AWAY Spa menu features various treatments and remains open until 8 p.m. most days; I enjoyed a 60-minute massage after a day of exploring the walkable city.
W Montréal is pet-friendly. The in-room dining menu includes options for dogs and cats, and services such as dog sitting and walking are available. Dining options on-site include Être Avec Toi (Ê.A.T.) for meals and several bars—W Bartini, Wunderbar and Plateau Lounge—for drinks. For a quiet evening in, I ordered from room service: a generous portion of creamy linguine with Kalamata olives, basil and grilled vegetables, and a flavorful Montréal-style smoked-meat sandwich.
WiFi is free for Starwood Preferred Guest members; non-members can access it for a nominal fee. Valet parking is available and reasonably priced per night, though the valet process can be slow at times.
The Experience: My stay at W Montréal was thoroughly enjoyable. The property delivered a strong introduction to the W Hotels brand while offering a comfortable and convenient base for experiencing the city. I look forward to returning in the future.
