Last month, Hainan Airlines inaugurated a new nonstop route linking Changsha and Los Angeles, marking the carrier’s eighth destination in North America.
Mu Weigang, Deputy Chairman of Hainan Airlines, said the airline has been steadily expanding its international network with new services such as Beijing–Seattle, Beijing–Chicago, Beijing–Boston, Beijing–San Jose, Shanghai–Seattle and Shanghai–Boston. “With the addition of the Changsha–Los Angeles route, Hainan Airlines strengthens its position as a major carrier between China and the United States. We expect this connection to boost economic, cultural and technological exchanges between the two regions,” he stated.
The Changsha–Los Angeles route operates twice weekly on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with flights scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. Flight time is approximately 13.5 hours. All times below are local.
| Flight Number | Aircraft | Days | Departure | Departure Time | Arrival Time | Destination | Note |
| HU7923 | B787 | Monday and Thursday | Changsha | 13:00 | 10:35 | Los Angeles | Los Angeles Standard Time |
| HU7924 | B787 | Monday and Thursday | Los Angeles | 12:35 | 19:20+1 | Changsha |
This new twice-weekly service provides a direct link between central China and Southern California, offering passengers long-haul comfort aboard the Dreamliner and increased connectivity for business and leisure travelers on both sides of the Pacific.
Hainan Airlines’ continued expansion into North America reflects growing demand for transpacific travel and the airline’s strategy to connect multiple Chinese cities with major U.S. hubs. The Changsha–Los Angeles flights are expected to support tourism, trade and cultural ties while providing more options for travelers originating from Hunan province and surrounding regions.
Passengers planning to travel on this route should check flight availability and entry requirements before booking, as schedules and regulations may change.
