Volaris Introduces Sole Direct Flight Between Guadalajara and New York

Volaris began service to New York City this month, launching the only nonstop flight linking New York and Guadalajara, Jalisco. The airline operates the route between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays — providing a direct connection for travelers and business visitors alike.

By introducing this link, Volaris expands travel options for passengers traveling between the northeastern United States and Mexico’s Western-Pacific region. Guadalajara is a major economic and industrial hub, and the nonstop service takes advantage of the city’s robust road network and extensive domestic flight connections to other Mexican destinations.

“Volaris’ new route will undoubtedly allow for more connectivity options between the northeastern U.S. and the Western-Pacific area of Mexico, and will take advantage of Guadalajara’s road infrastructure and its many domestic flights. This flight will facilitate trade opportunities between these two cities with large financial, business and tourism presence. Guadalajara has a booming industry, mainly manufacturing electronic equipment, pharmaceutical and steel products,” said Ambassador Sandra Fuentes-Berain, Consul General of Mexico in New York.

The nonstop link is expected to support several types of travel demand. Leisure travelers will gain an easier way to reach Guadalajara’s cultural attractions, festivals and culinary scene, while families and friends on both sides of the border will benefit from a more convenient schedule and reduced travel time compared with connecting itineraries. Business travelers and cargo shippers will also find advantages in a direct service that streamlines connections for meetings, trade missions and time-sensitive shipments.

Operationally, the route helps integrate Guadalajara into broader national and international networks. Passengers arriving at GDL can transfer to numerous domestic flights that connect the city to other Mexican states, while improved air access from the U.S. supports tourism development and strengthens commercial ties. For companies with manufacturing or export operations in Guadalajara — notably in electronics, pharmaceuticals and steel — the service could mean faster access to U.S. partners and markets.

With this addition, Volaris further cements its role as one of the leading low-cost carriers serving Mexico and the United States. The airline currently operates an extensive route network across both countries, offering a wide range of point-to-point routes that emphasize affordability and frequency. Volaris flies more than 140 routes to 62 destinations, including numerous domestic airports and several international cities, providing options for travelers seeking direct or connecting flights.

The schedule of three weekly flights balances frequency and demand, allowing Volaris to evaluate market response and adjust capacity as needed. For travelers planning future trips, checking current flight times and fares before booking is recommended, as seasonal demand and operational changes can affect schedules.

Overall, the new nonstop service between JFK and GDL represents an important link that enhances mobility, supports trade and expands tourism opportunities between New York and Guadalajara. By offering a direct, convenient connection, Volaris aims to meet demand for efficient travel while contributing to growing economic and cultural exchanges between the two cities.
