Vintage Volkswagen Tours in Germany’s Weserbergland Hills

The Volkswagen Beetle has inspired a devoted global following, and each celebration of this iconic car draws enthusiasts from around the world. From June 21–23, more than 40,000 Volkswagen fans are expected to gather in Hessisch Oldendorf in the Weserbergland Hills region of Germany for the 6th International Vintage Volkswagen Show. The event attracts owners, restorers and collectors eager to admire original and rare Beetle models, alongside other Volkswagen legends such as the classic camper van and the Karmann Ghia.

Held every four years, the show has already logged registrations for over 800 classic cars, with entries still coming in. In addition to the static displays, Hessisch Oldendorf — a Lower Saxony town known for its charming half-timbered houses — will host a schwimmwagen tour, putting Volkswagen’s amphibious off-roaders in the spotlight.

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere that blends car culture, history and community. The gathering offers opportunities to compare restorations, source parts, attend specialist talks and meet owners who preserve the Beetle’s legacy. For many attendees it’s a chance to celebrate the engineering and design that made the Beetle a global icon, as well as the social culture that grew up around Volkswagen vehicles over decades.

Beyond the vehicles themselves, the surrounding region provides scenic drives and local hospitality. Hessisch Oldendorf’s historic center and the rolling landscapes of the Weserbergland make for pleasant settings before or after the show. The event’s timing in late June means attendees can enjoy summer weather and open-air exhibits, parades and driving demonstrations.

Whether you’re a longtime Beetle owner, a collector of classic Volkswagens, or simply curious about automotive heritage, the International Vintage Volkswagen Show promises a deep dive into Volkswagen history and a chance to see rare and lovingly maintained examples of some of the most recognizable cars ever made.
