United Introduces Premium In-Flight Dining Upgrades

United Airlines has upgraded its in-flight dining for premium-cabin passengers on many North America routes. Beginning Feb. 1, United expanded its meal service for United First and United Business customers to include flights of at least 800 miles, roughly two hours and 20 minutes, giving travelers more substantial and varied food choices on shorter flights.

Developed by United’s culinary team and inspired by flavors from the airline’s hub cities and other popular North American destinations, the new premium-cabin menus offer a range of freshly prepared dishes. Examples include skillet-style cage-free scrambled eggs with pepper-jack cheese, sautéed pepper mix, sliced New Mexico sausage, potato gratin and fire-roasted pepper sauce; lobster macaroni and cheese with a baked crumb topping accompanied by broccoli rabe; and chicken and sausage jambalaya with white rice and green onions.

On shorter services that provide lighter refreshments, United has added morning breakfast breads and an afternoon and evening rotation of 25 new premium snacks. For flights under four hours, the enhanced breakfast lineup includes items such as French toast soufflé or steel-cut oatmeal, each paired with fresh fruit and Greek yogurt. New dinner choices for these shorter flights now include options like tandoori chicken served with basmati rice and paneer cheese.

Flights with a mid-continental service—lasting four hours up to five hours and 19 minutes—now offer three entrée choices instead of two, increasing variety for passengers. Selections in this category include dishes such as creole shrimp with Carolina grits, and desserts like sorbet with a mint-leaf garnish at lunch or gelato or ice cream for dinner.

Transcontinental and Hawai’i flights receive a multi-course meal service with heartier entrées and complementary courses. Examples are tamale-stuffed chicken wrapped in a corn husk and served with creamy corn sauce, roasted red and yellow tomatoes and yucca sticks, followed by sorbet at lunch or gelato or ice cream at dinner. In addition, United offers signature bake-on-board cookies in customer-selected flavors—such as triple-chocolate chunk—served as dessert on short- and medium-haul flights that include meals, or as an afternoon or pre-arrival treat on transcontinental routes and on flights connecting Hawai’i with Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Houston.

These enhancements reflect United’s effort to bring more regionally inspired, freshly prepared dishes and a wider range of snack and dessert options to premium-cabin customers across North America, providing a more consistent and elevated dining experience on both short and long flights.
