United Adds Direct Flights to St. Kitts: Routes, Schedules & Tips

United Airlines is adding a second non-stop service to St. Kitts (SKB), increasing options for travelers between the New York metropolitan area and the island. The new twice-weekly flight will operate from the carrier’s Newark Liberty International Airport hub, providing additional capacity during the peak winter travel season.

“The addition of a mid-week flight by United Airlines marks yet another historic first for St. Kitts this year,” said Lindsay F.P. Grant, minister of tourism, international trade, industry and commerce for St. Kitts, in a written statement. The extra service is intended to better serve visitors and members of the Diaspora traveling from the primary source market for arrivals, the New York metro area.

The seasonal service is scheduled to operate from January 9 through March 6, 2019, offering nine round-trip non-stop flights on Wednesdays. By supplementing the existing schedule, the new mid-week frequency aims to provide more flexible travel options and support tourism demand during the island’s busy season.

With added capacity on this route, travelers gain a convenient, direct connection between Newark and St. Kitts, reducing the need for connections and shortening overall travel time. The additional flights also support local tourism initiatives and help accommodate increased visitor interest during the winter months when demand typically rises.

United’s decision to introduce a second flight reflects broader efforts to expand service to Caribbean destinations and respond to market demand from key feeder markets. For passengers, the mid-week departure creates more choices for scheduling trips that align with business, family visits, and leisure travel.

As always, travelers should verify schedules and availability directly with the airline when planning travel, as seasonal routes and frequencies can change from year to year.
