Uber launched a loyalty program called Uber Rewards to reward frequent riders much like hotels and airlines do for repeat customers.
Members earn points based on spending: one point per dollar for Uber Pool rides and Uber Eats orders, two points per dollar for UberX rides, and three points per dollar for Uber Black and UberXL trips. Riders begin at the Blue tier; reaching 500 points advances a rider to Gold, 2,500 points moves them to Platinum, and 7,500 points earns the highest status, Diamond. Uber also considers the previous six months of ride history when assigning an initial tier.
Accumulated points can be redeemed for a range of benefits. Typical perks include priority airport pickup, price protection during high-demand periods or bad weather, free delivery on Uber Eats, priority in-app support, and more flexible cancellation policies. These rewards aim to make frequent use more convenient and cost-effective.
At the time of publication, Uber Rewards was available in Atlanta, Denver, Miami, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.
Uber plans to expand the program to additional international cities and integrate it with Jump bikes and e-scooters, offering more ways for members to earn and redeem points across multiple modes of transportation.
