Turkish Airlines Debuts First U.S. Airport Lounge: What to Know

Turkish Airlines has opened its first airport lounge in the United States, unveiling a new facility at Washington Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

The Turkish Airlines Lounge at Dulles spans approximately 5,000 square feet and accommodates up to 120 guests. The lounge offers a range of amenities designed for comfort and convenience, including a food and beverage buffet, shower and restroom facilities, complimentary Wi‑Fi, a business center, dedicated prayer and relaxation rooms, and various entertainment options.

“We are pleased to bring to the United States the world‑renowned lounge experience that Turkish Airlines pioneered at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport,” said Ilker Aycı, chairman of Turkish Airlines. “Passengers visiting the Turkish Airlines lounge at Dulles International Airport will enjoy some of the finest services and accommodations available.”

Turkish Airlines has served the Washington, D.C., area since 2010 and operates 10 weekly flights between Dulles International Airport and Istanbul Atatürk Airport. In addition to Dulles, the carrier flies to several major U.S. gateways, including New York (JFK), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH), Atlanta (ATL), Miami (MIA), San Francisco (SFO), and Los Angeles (LAX).

The airline has faced challenges in recent years due to a difficult travel climate across Europe, the Middle East, and Turkey. Atatürk Airport, the airline’s primary hub, was the target of a terrorist attack in June, and political instability following an attempted coup in Turkey created further uncertainty for the business. Despite these obstacles, Turkish Airlines continues to expand select services and amenities, such as the new Dulles lounge, to enhance the passenger experience.
