Turkish Airlines will add four additional weekly flights between Istanbul (IST) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO) at the end of April to accommodate rising demand. The new evening service departs Istanbul at 22:15 on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Rome at 23:50. From Rome, the return flights depart at 07:05 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and arrive in Istanbul at 10:35. With these extra frequencies the airline will operate the route 25 times per week.
Yurdagul Altinoz, General Manager for Rome at Turkish Airlines, notes that passengers traveling onward from Rome most commonly connect to destinations such as Dubai (DXB), New Delhi (DEL), Bangkok (BKK), Tel Aviv (TLV), the Maldives (MLE) and Shanghai (PVG). The added services are intended to improve connection options and better match capacity with passenger demand on both the Istanbul–Rome corridor and onward routes.
The new schedule provides more flexibility for business and leisure travelers, offering late-night departures from Istanbul and early-morning returns from Rome that facilitate same-day connections and onward travel. Increasing frequencies can reduce congestion during peak periods and give customers additional choices for timing and availability.
By expanding its Istanbul–Rome network, the carrier strengthens one of its key European city pairs while supporting hub connectivity through Istanbul. The additional flights should benefit passengers transferring at IST to long-haul services as well as point-to-point travelers between the two capitals.
