When Airbräu opened in 1999, it became the world’s first airport brewery and remains a must-visit destination inside Munich Airport. The brewery draws beer lovers and travelers alike, offering an authentic taste of Bavarian brewing without leaving the terminal. The main restaurant seats 350 guests and features clear views of the brewing process, letting visitors watch beer creation while they dine.
In addition to the main dining room, Airbräu includes spaces overlooking the Munich Airport Center and Terminal 2, a demonstration kitchen and stage for events, and a large beer garden open from May through October. The beer garden, set among greenery in the airport center, can accommodate up to 600 guests. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy one of the brewery’s distinctive beers alongside traditional Bavarian cuisine in a relaxed, airport-centered setting. For travelers with limited time, a smaller Airbräu outlet is located in Terminal 2 near the fifth-level gates.
Airbräu brews a rotating selection of nine award-winning beers on site. Three varieties are available year-round—a well-balanced bitter lager, a mature wheat beer, and a crisp pils—each offered at an affordable price. Throughout the year, five additional seasonal beers appear on the taps, with examples including a festive Christmas Krampus brew and a light, refreshing Mayday beer for summer. The latest addition, AirCraft, is brewed using locally grown hops and follows traditional German purity laws, emphasizing quality ingredients and classic techniques.
The brewery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., welcoming travelers who want to experience genuine Bavarian beer culture during their time at the airport. Whether you have a long layover or just a short wait, Airbräu provides an engaging and flavorful stop that showcases Munich’s brewing heritage.
