Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago — Luxury Downtown Hotel Guide

Arrival/Check-In: The Trump International Hotel & Tower is impossible to miss — the second-tallest building in Chicago dominates the skyline. The 92-story tower houses residences and a luxury hotel on floors 14–27. We arrived on a snowy Saturday afternoon and experienced a swift, efficient check-in. Shortly after, staff escorted us to a deluxe guestroom on the 23rd floor, where soft opera music played from the in-room sound system.

Guest Quarters: Space and thoughtful layouts make a difference. Our room measured roughly 600 square feet and featured a wall of 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that offered sweeping city views. One distinctive touch was the in-room kitchenette, equipped with a mini refrigerator, sink, two-burner cooktop, microwave, espresso maker and dishwasher — convenient for longer stays or simple meals. The bathroom was generous and designed for comfort, with double sinks, a deep soaking tub, two plush bathrobes and a television embedded in the mirror.

The property also offers 53 spa guestrooms located on dedicated floors with direct access to The Spa at Trump. These rooms are decorated in a lighter, calming palette and trade the full kitchenette for a mini fridge stocked with organic juices, Champagne and wine. Popular in-room amenities for spa guestrooms include a heated cabinet for warming herbal-scented neck and eye pillows, a yoga mat and hand weights, which add a restorative element to the stay.

Services and Amenities: The Trump health club provides an excellent vantage point over Lake Michigan and the Chicago River for guests who like to exercise with a view. Facilities include a heated indoor pool, steam room and sauna, plus a full menu of treatments at The Spa at Trump for those wanting to relax after a workout or a day exploring the city.

Dining at Sixteen, the hotel’s Michelin-rated restaurant on the 16th floor, is a highlight and reservations are recommended. The dining room curves along a wall of 34 floor-to-ceiling windows that frame landmark views, including the Wrigley Building clock tower and the Tribune Tower. The restaurant’s seasonal menus reflect peak ingredients, and the chef often takes time to explain the theme and inspiration behind the dishes. When weather permits, the outdoor Terrace (open seasonally) becomes a coveted spot—especially on nights when Navy Pier fireworks light the sky.

The concierge operates from a comfortable, slightly elevated area away from the check-in desk, furnished with sofas and small tables so guests can sit while planning activities. A 24-hour Attaché service handles practical requests, from sourcing non-dairy milk for morning coffee to arranging last-minute business supplies or reservations.

The Experience: Situated just steps from the Magnificent Mile, the Trump International Hotel & Tower is ideally located for shopping, dining and business in downtown Chicago. The hotel’s blend of spacious, well-appointed rooms, comprehensive amenities and attentive service makes it a strong option for both business travelers and leisure guests seeking a refined riverside base for exploring the city.
