Très Getty: Inside the Glamorous World of the Getty Family

What better setting than the French Riviera for an exhibition of Slim’s Riviera, a curated selection of images by photographer Slim Aarons. For more than three decades Aarons documented the lives of the wealthy and well-known, pursuing a simple aim: to photograph “only beautiful people doing beautiful things in beautiful places.” This exhibition brings that vision to life along the Mediterranean coast.

The show is a collaboration between the Getty Images Gallery in London and two distinguished French Riviera properties: Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and Château Saint-Martin & Spa in Vence. Both hotels belong to the Oetker Collection, known for its portfolio of unique, luxury properties, and each venue presents a different selection of Aarons’s work.

On view throughout the summer season, the displays differ between the two hotels. At Château Saint-Martin & Spa in Provence, the exhibition highlights images from Aarons’s 1986 visit, capturing the region’s light, landscape and lifestyle. Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc showcases 26 striking photographs taken during several visits between 1969 and 1978. Those images feature celebrities, the hotel itself and the dramatic coastal setting that has defined the Riviera’s glamour for generations.

Visitors to either venue can expect a refined presentation that emphasizes Aarons’s elegant, observational style—photographs that celebrate leisure, luxury and the timeless allure of the Mediterranean. By situating the work where it was often made, the exhibition creates an immersive experience that connects the photographs with the very places that inspired them.

The partnership between a major photographic gallery and these iconic hotels offers both guests and locals an opportunity to view classic fashion and lifestyle photography in authentic surroundings. The show not only honors Slim Aarons’s legacy but also underscores the enduring appeal of the Riviera as a backdrop for culture, travel and sophisticated living.
