Legendary Danish ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin has transformed a historic property in Copenhagen into the Sanders Hotel, which opens in October. Kølpin, who owns the building, personally curated the interiors, embracing a “quiet luxury” aesthetic. The design emphasizes polished woods and leathers, rich textiles and bright, airy rooms that create a warm, residential atmosphere. Room amenities reflect that approach and include kimonos, slippers, upscale toiletries and complimentary minibars.
The hotel offers 54 rooms, including coupé rooms whose interiors take inspiration from luxury train travel. For longer visits, Sanders Apartments provide a kitchenette and dining area, plus a separate den complete with an open fireplace. Apartments feature bathrooms with walk-in showers and spacious bedrooms with king-sized beds. Public spaces for dining and relaxation include Sanders Kitchen, the Living Room, the Courtyard and the TATA cocktail bar, each designed to feel intimate and inviting.
Guest services are tailored for convenience and comfort. The hotel provides storage, breakfast to go, and fast-track check-in and check-out. A variety of informal meeting areas suit both leisure and business travelers. Complimentary bicycles encourage exploration of Copenhagen’s streets, while currency exchange adds practical convenience. Hotel staff can also arrange laundry, car hires, spa treatments and private in-room yoga sessions to enhance longer stays.
