Thomas Cook Airlines has introduced a new Sleeper Seat on selected long-haul flights between Manchester (MAN) and New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO). Designed to enhance comfort in economy class, the Sleeper Seat converts a row of three adjacent seats into a flat sleeping area, providing a more restful journey for travelers. Upgrade options start from approximately $260 one-way.
The Sleeper Seats are located towards the rear of the aircraft and become available when a passenger or group has an entire row of three seats to themselves. Each Sleeper Seat booking includes a mattress with a fitted sheet, a head rest, a pillow, a blanket and an amenity kit. Passengers also retain standard economy-class services such as in-flight dining and entertainment during the flight.
Henry Sunley, commercial director at Thomas Cook Airlines, commented on the innovation: “We continually seek ways to improve the travel experience for our customers. The Sleeper Seat is a UK first and a great option for anyone looking for extra comfort while flying in economy.” Sunley also noted the product’s flexibility: while only one person can occupy the Sleeper Seat at any given time, groups traveling together can arrange to swap use of the row during the flight if they wish.
The Sleeper Seat upgrade is offered to passengers aged 12 and over. Availability may vary by flight and is subject to aircraft configuration and booking conditions.
This new seating option is aimed at providing a practical, lower-cost alternative to premium cabins for passengers who want to sleep more comfortably on long overnight flights. By transforming a standard economy row into a dedicated rest space with bedding and basic amenities, Thomas Cook Airlines seeks to make long-haul travel more accessible and restful without changing the overall cabin class.
Passengers interested in reserving a Sleeper Seat should check seat availability during booking or contact the airline for details on pricing and eligibility for their specific flight. As with other seat upgrades, advance purchase is recommended to secure a Sleeper Seat on routes where it is offered.
