The Dorchester to Finish First Renovation Phase in September

The Dorchester, one of the world’s most iconic hotels, has announced the anticipated completion of the first phase of its renovation this September. Located in Mayfair with Hyde Park on its doorstep, The Dorchester engaged several renowned architects and designers to thoughtfully modernize and reimagine the hotel while respecting its historic character.

Pierre-Yves Rochon will oversee the redesign of the hotel’s entrance, The Promenade, the new Cake & Flowers boutique, and a selection of guestrooms and suites. The rooms will adopt a light, fresh, and carefully considered design inspired by an English garden. The color palette includes pale leaf green, rose fog pink, heather blue and lemon yellow, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere. In addition to refreshed rooms, The Dorchester is introducing new signature and junior suites that offer more spacious, residential-style accommodation.

The hotel’s exterior entrance will be enhanced with updated lighting to cast a welcoming glow along Park Lane. The forecourt will be improved with green granite paving and a landscaped garden tucked beneath the hotel’s celebrated plane tree. At the end of The Promenade, guests will find a new destination space intended for glamorous evenings featuring Champagne, seafood and live entertainment.

A new Cake & Flowers boutique will showcase feature windows with creations by in-house designer florist Philip Hammond and executive pastry chef Michael Kwan. Inside, guests can purchase house-made pastries and cakes to take away, choose floral bouquets, and find a curated selection of Champagnes and artisan chocolates—an offering designed for gifting, celebrations and everyday treats.

Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has been commissioned to redesign the hotel bar. Drawing on 1930s glamour, the new interior captures a cinematic quality with a cast of skilled bartenders. The bar will have its own Park Lane entrance and an outside terrace with views over Hyde Park. A standout feature is a 1920s Palladium leaf ceiling, which contributes to a warm, inviting atmosphere ideal for socializing and relaxing.

These first-phase updates reflect The Dorchester’s commitment to thoughtful design, elevated hospitality and a balance between heritage and contemporary comfort. As the renovation progresses, the hotel aims to preserve its storied legacy while offering refreshed spaces and new experiences for visitors and locals alike.
