TAP Portugal has introduced a new branded fare structure to give passengers more choice and flexibility when booking tickets for intercontinental flights.
Building on the branded fares launched last September for Europe and North Africa, the new structure lets travelers across the TAP network pick fare options that best match their travel needs. Passengers pay only for the services they value most, selecting from a range of price and service combinations without sacrificing comfort.
For economy travelers, TAP now offers four fare brands and for business travelers there are two. Each fare tier bundles different services and price points so customers can tailor their journey according to baggage, seating and flexibility preferences.
The Discover fare is designed for passengers traveling light with carry-on baggage only and provides the most competitive price. The Basic fare covers travelers who need one checked bag. The Classic fare is suited to those who want two checked bags and the option to pre-assign seats. The Plus fare adds further convenience and flexibility: up to three checked bags, pre-assigned seats toward the front of the cabin, priority check-in and more flexible reservation options. Regardless of the chosen fare, additional products and services remain available for purchase.
As an example of the new pricing impact, customers who purchase a Basic fare for travel on the Lisbon (LIS)–New York (JFK) route starting Sept. 1 may see a 19 percent savings compared with the total cost of the same journey in May or October if that earlier ticket had been bought before the branded fares were implemented.
In business class, the Executive brand offers competitive pricing while including the standard comforts and amenities such as lounge access and priority boarding. The Top Executive brand adds extensive flexibility with unlimited flight-change options and no cancellation fees, plus enhanced allowances: three checked bags up to 70 pounds each, bonus frequent-flyer miles and complimentary valet parking at Lisbon and Porto (OPO) airports.
The new fare structure took effect on April 4.
