Arrival/Check-In: Singapore’s compact size means you are rarely far from your destination. After landing at Changi Airport at 10 p.m., I reached Swissôtel The Stamford in about 15 minutes. The lobby remained lively with guests returning from evening outings and late dinners. While waiting to check in, I explored the spacious Lobby Court, which is tastefully decorated with local floral displays. Note that the elevators are in heavy use and rides can take around five minutes during peak times.
Guest Quarters: My initial Classic Room was located on an upper floor and offered impressive views of Marina Bay. The room, however, experienced an air-conditioning issue. The hotel staff responded professionally and promptly, arranging an upgrade to a new room and offering to move my belongings while I was out for the day. Their helpfulness made the transition seamless.
The Stamford Crest Suite I was moved into combined comfort with thoughtful design. The entryway opened to a living area with floor-to-ceiling windows, a comfortable sofa, a lounge chair, and a large work desk facing a flat-screen television. The bathroom is an open, well-lit space featuring a powder room, double sinks set in dark-jade and white marble, a full vanity, a separate shower and a large spa tub with shutters that overlook the bedroom. A closet area off the bathroom included a dedicated lounge couch and full-length mirrors, adding a touch of luxury and convenience. Double doors from the living room led into the bedroom, which also benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows and excellent natural light. I spent an afternoon working from the king-sized bed while watching a dramatic thunderstorm sweep across the city, followed shortly by bright sunshine—one of those memorable city moments.
Services/Amenities: Service is a strong point at this hotel. Club-floor guests can use the Swiss Executive Lounge, while suite guests gain access to the private Living Room on the 65th floor. The Living Room provides a calm, comfortable setting for tea, breakfast or evening drinks and offers a quieter alternative to the main public spaces.
Swissôtel The Stamford and the neighboring Fairmont Singapore are separate properties linked by a large mall. They share a spa and several dining options, giving guests a broader range of facilities. For a standout dining experience, Equinox on the top floor of Swissôtel delivers modern European cuisine alongside sweeping 360-degree views. Mikuni, located within the connected mall area, is a refined option for lunch; their bento boxes make for a satisfying, elegant midday meal in a business-friendly atmosphere. For after-work socializing, Anti:Dote—situated in the Fairmont lobby—is an energetic bar known for inventive, locally inspired cocktails and quickly became our preferred place to unwind after busy workdays.
