Now in its fourth year, the Sun Valley Harvest Festival begins Sept. 19 and runs through the afternoon of Sept. 22. This weekend-long celebration centers on outstanding food and wines, bringing together acclaimed chefs, winemakers and local food artisans. This year’s festival features cookbook author and Chaine des Rôtisseurs member John Beriker among the roster of notable culinary talent.
The festival program includes a Food Mavericks panel discussion, a restaurant walk, a grand tasting, a river-guide cooking demonstration, multiple harvest dinners, a martini and caviar reception, an Oktoberfest party hosted by Sawtooth Brewery, and “Meet the Locals: Farmers and Food Artisans” at Atkinson’s Market. Featured wineries include Erath Winery, Northstar, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Col Solare, O Wines, Michelle, Spring Valley Vineyard and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.
Saturday’s schedule highlights guest chef demonstrations at Carol’s Dollar Lodge. Demonstrators include Chicago-based pastry chef and French Culinary Institute graduate Malika Ameen; cookbook author, television personality and nutrition expert Tina Ruggiero; and Tal Ronnen and Scot Jones from Los Angeles’s Crossroads Kitchen. Demonstration topics cover a range of approachable and inspiring subjects, from “Cooking for Your Libido” and “How to Jump-Start Your Morning” to “From the Restaurant to Your Table,” offering techniques and ideas attendees can bring into their own kitchens.
The Sun Valley Harvest Festival blends educational programming with lively tasting events and community-focused activities, making it an appealing weekend for food lovers, wine enthusiasts and anyone interested in local agriculture and artisanal food production. Attendees can expect to meet producers, sample a wide selection of regional and international wines, and enjoy creative dishes prepared by the festival’s invited chefs.
Whether you attend panel sessions to hear culinary innovators, join a hands-on demonstration, or savor the variety of tastes at the grand tasting and harvest dinners, the festival provides multiple ways to engage with food and wine culture. The inclusion of events like the farmers-and-artisans market emphasizes the festival’s connection to local food traditions and seasonal harvests, while the brewery-hosted Oktoberfest and martini-and-caviar party add festive, social elements to the weekend.
With a mix of educational talks, chef-led demonstrations and celebratory tastings, the Sun Valley Harvest Festival offers both depth and variety. It’s designed to satisfy curious home cooks, devoted foodies and those who simply enjoy a well-curated culinary weekend in a scenic setting.
