Arrival/Check-in: I arrived at Hotel Palomar on a pleasant spring afternoon in Philadelphia. The staff greeted me warmly, helped with my luggage, and guided me into the hotel’s lively atmosphere. The boutique property features an imaginative design—vibrant portraits of Thomas Jefferson and colorful sculptures of Benjamin Franklin give a contemporary twist to American history. After taking in the lobby’s character, I checked in quickly at the front desk, where the process was efficient and friendly. (30/30)
Guest Quarters: My room offered an impressive city view and ample space for work and relaxation. It was thoughtfully appointed with a 37-inch LCD flat-screen TV, an iHome docking station, L’Occitane bath products, a laptop safe, and a fully stocked minibar. A playful touch—leopard print bathrobes—added personality to the stay. I only wished I had more time to enjoy all of the room’s amenities. (28/30)
Service/Amenities: The hotel delivered attentive service, including a complimentary morning newspaper and prompt in-room service. In addition, Hotel Palomar provided a morning coffee and tea bar and hosted a wine and cocktail hour in the living room lobby. Those complimentary offerings made it easy to savor coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening outside the confines of the room. With 194 guest rooms, 19 spa rooms, and 17 suites, the property offers many opportunities for relaxation and pampering to enhance any visit. (39/40)
The Experience: Hotel Palomar is a distinctive Kimpton property located in Center City, within the historic Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. It delivers a refined boutique experience that suits business travelers, leisure guests, or those combining both. I would have liked more time to explore everything the hotel and its neighborhood have to offer.
