Sparkling Hill Resort BC: A Swarovski Crystal-Filled Luxury Escape

Built by Gernot Langes-Swarovski above Lake Okanagan in British Columbia’s wine country, Sparkling Hill Resort truly lives up to its name. The property’s interior showcases three million Swarovski crystals: a four-story crystal atrium and chandeliers, 265 crystal balls, and more than 7,400 feet of crystal strands and chains. Guest rooms continue the theme with crystals backlit behind lamps and lighting, canopies of starlights above soaking tubs, and multi-hued crystal patterns on the ceilings.

Equally impressive is the 40,000-square-foot KurSpa, which offers over 100 treatments and therapies across 48 treatment rooms. Signature features include an Aqua Meditation Room, a Rose Steam Bath, a Crystal Steam Chamber, and a peppermint-scented ice igloo cabin, each designed to provide restorative and sensory-rich experiences.

Beyond traditional spa offerings, Sparkling Hill includes seven themed saunas and steam baths, multiple pools, and a Kneipp therapy waterway. The resort is also home to the first cryotherapy center in North America. Unlike a sauna session, cryotherapy circuits are brief—typically two to three minutes in total. Guests wear light protective clothing, foot coverings, ear protection, gloves, and a surgical mask while moving through a series of progressively colder chambers, with temperatures ranging from −76°F to −166°F. Trained staff continuously monitor each circuit. Cryotherapy has been used to help treat certain muscle complaints and arthritis and is utilized in elite athletic rehabilitation settings to address joint issues.

Many guests combine cryotherapy with time in a steam chamber or sauna, pairing the brief, intense cold exposure with warm, restorative treatments to enhance circulation and recovery.

If you’re visiting the Okanagan region, Sparkling Hill’s blend of dazzling design and comprehensive wellness amenities makes it a standout destination for both relaxation and rejuvenation.
