Southwest is expanding its California flight options, allowing travelers more nonstop choices and greater flexibility. By December, the airline plans to operate up to 98 daily departures from California airports, serving more than two dozen destinations across the United States and beyond.
Earlier this month, Southwest launched or increased several California routes. New and expanded service includes flights between San Jose (SJC) and Tucson (TUS), Portland (PDX) and Orange County (SNA), and between Burbank (BUR) and two major hubs: Houston (HOU) and Chicago Midway (MDW).
In addition to those California-focused changes, Southwest adjusted its network in other regions by adding or increasing frequencies on routes such as Washington, D.C. (DCA) to Oklahoma City (OKC); Nashville (BNA) to Dallas (DFW); and New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Dallas. The carrier also boosted service between Denver (DEN) and Kansas City (MCI).
Southwest has also resumed seasonal daily international flights, restoring nonstop service to popular vacation destinations like Belize and Turks and Caicos. These international options provide more choices for California residents planning leisure travel during peak seasons.
With the new schedule, travelers from multiple California airports will see improved connectivity to domestic hubs and leisure destinations, offering easier connections and additional same-day travel options. The increased frequencies aim to accommodate both business and leisure travelers seeking flexible departure times and more nonstop choices.
The carrier’s growth strategy in California reflects broader demand trends and the airline’s effort to strengthen its presence on the West Coast. Passengers can expect a mix of short-haul and medium-haul flights, connecting regional cities to Southwest’s extensive domestic network and selected seasonal international points.
For Californians planning trips later this year, the expanded schedule should make it simpler to find nonstop flights and convenient connections. Travelers should check Southwest’s official schedule for exact departure times, route availability, and any seasonal adjustments as the airline finalizes its December timetable.
