Singapore Airlines is preparing to launch non-stop service between Singapore (SIN) and two major U.S. gateways: Newark (EWR) and Los Angeles (LAX). These ultra-long-haul routes will be operated with Airbus A350-900 ULR (Ultra Long Range) aircraft designed for extended, nonstop flights.
The airline’s A350-900ULR cabin will be configured to prioritize comfort on these lengthy transpacific and transcontinental sectors. Each aircraft will feature 67 business-class seats and 94 premium economy seats. Both cabins are designed to offer generous legroom, upgraded in-flight entertainment systems, and attention to passenger comfort to help travelers rest and arrive refreshed after the long journey.
Introducing nonstop service on these routes adds a competitive option for travelers between Singapore and the U.S. East and West coasts. Currently, other carriers operate one-stop or connecting services on similar city pairs, so Singapore Airlines’ nonstop flights represent a significant convenience for passengers seeking a direct connection.
Singapore Airlines placed an order for seven A350-900ULR aircraft from Airbus, with deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2018. The airline’s move to expand its long-haul nonstop network with ULR aircraft reflects growing demand for nonstop options on the longest air routes and signals increased competition for carriers serving these markets.
Passengers can expect a modern cabin experience tailored to long-distance travel, including ergonomically designed seats and expanded entertainment options. The premium economy product, in particular, aims to offer an affordable yet comfortable alternative to full business class for travelers who want extra space without the higher price tag.
These nonstop flights will reduce total travel time compared with routes requiring layovers, and they will appeal to business travelers and leisure passengers alike who value direct connections. By deploying A350-900ULRs on these routes, Singapore Airlines is positioning itself to meet demand for nonstop travel between Southeast Asia and major U.S. cities while elevating onboard comfort for extended-duration flights.
