Scandinavian Airlines has launched a new direct, non-stop service connecting Scandinavia and Hong Kong, becoming the only carrier to offer this direct link between the regions. The new Hong Kong (HKG) route expands SAS’s long-haul network and strengthens connections between Northern Europe and Asia.
The Hong Kong service operates five times weekly from Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and provides convenient onward connections to other Scandinavian cities and major European hubs. This route joins SAS’s existing direct Asian destinations: Beijing (PEK), Shanghai (PVG) and Tokyo (NRT).
“We are very proud to be linking Stockholm and the rest of Scandinavia with Hong Kong through a convenient new connection. We look forward to offering a warm welcome on board to all our customers,” said Rickard Gustafson, president and CEO of SAS.
Alongside the new route, SAS has reopened its refreshed lounge in Terminal 5 at Arlanda. The renovated space reflects Scandinavian design principles—functional and elegant—and offers distinct areas for different passenger groups: an exclusive section for EuroBonus Diamond and Gold members and a dedicated area for Business and SAS Plus travelers.
The updated lounge features an expanded buffet, combined meeting rooms and guest offices, travel services, a relaxation area, workstations, and improved facilities including toilets and showers. The lounge also provides abundant power outlets, charging stations and high-speed Wi-Fi. Families traveling with children will find a play area designed for younger guests.
SAS’s long-haul network already serves several North American destinations from Scandinavia, including New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), Houston (IAH) and Washington, D.C. (IAD). Additional transatlantic services to Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami (MIA) are planned to begin next year.
