SAS has announced a new codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic, launched on October 7. The partnership enables SAS customers to connect through London Heathrow to a variety of Virgin Atlantic destinations, with availability expanding as regulatory approvals and operational arrangements are finalized.
Paul Verhagen, chief commercial officer at SAS, said the collaboration expands the airline’s global reach and gives travellers more options to destinations such as Barbados, Jamaica and Antigua, with additional routes to be introduced later. He added that the agreement strengthens the value of the EuroBonus loyalty program by offering members more opportunities to earn and redeem points across Virgin Atlantic’s network, and expressed confidence that the partnership with the SkyTeam member will be long-lasting and mutually beneficial for travellers.

Passengers travelling on Virgin Atlantic from the United States and Canada will be able to book seamless onward connections through London Heathrow and Manchester to SAS services serving Sweden, Norway and Denmark. This improves convenience by offering coordinated schedules and through-ticketing options where available.
Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic, described the codeshare as a welcome enhancement to connectivity and customer benefits. He noted that frequent flyers will be able to earn rewards more quickly and highlighted the shared APEX five-star status of both carriers as a foundation for strengthening the partnership while continuing to expand their combined global network.
Now that SAS is formally enrolled in SkyTeam, members of SAS EuroBonus and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club can earn and redeem points across both programs. The arrangement is intended to provide greater value and flexibility for loyalty members, improving access to an expanded range of destinations and reward opportunities.
Operational details, specific route schedules and the full list of included destinations will be published as the carriers complete necessary approvals and update booking systems. Travellers are advised to check directly with SAS and Virgin Atlantic for the latest availability, booking rules and loyalty program terms before purchasing tickets.
