Nova Star Cruises has launched a regional Guest Chef Program aboard the cruise ferry Nova Star. The program brings celebrated chefs from both sides of the Maine–Nova Scotia corridor on board to create distinctive dining experiences for passengers traveling between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Sommeliers representing vineyards from both regions will also be present to recommend wine pairings that complement the menus.
During July and August, Nova Star features Nova Scotia chefs Jason Lynch and Jonathan Joseph. Lynch serves as head chef at Domaine de Grand Pré Winery’s Le Caveau Restaurant, where he focuses on dishes that highlight local ingredients and the winery’s terroir. Jonathan Joseph is chef and owner of Ye Olde Argyler Lodge, known for its regional cuisine and hospitality. Both guest chefs will collaborate with Nova Star’s onboard executive chef, Rene Aflenzer, to offer menus that reflect local flavors and seasonal produce.
Nova Star is a modern cruise ferry with capacity for 1,200 passengers. Onboard amenities include fine dining options, a casino, retail shopping, a children’s play area and a spa, providing a comfortable and entertaining crossing for travelers. The Guest Chef Program adds a culinary highlight to the voyage by featuring chefs who showcase the food culture of the region while working alongside the ship’s culinary team.
