A new five-day, four-night Polar Night adventure from specialist operator Off the Map Travel brings guests close to the North Pole with a private program, comfortable accommodations and striking isolation at Juva Cabin in Svalbard, Norway.

The exclusive program is designed for travelers seeking dramatic views of the Northern Lights. Guests stay in an area of near-total darkness during winter months, free from light pollution and giving the strongest possible chances to witness auroral displays. Juva Cabin is accessible only by snow in winter and ranks among Svalbard’s most remote yet comfort-focused tourist accommodations.
Situated to maximize views of Svalbard’s raw, Arctic landscape and to provide optimal Aurora viewing, the secluded cabin merges rustic location with modern comforts. The property includes comfortable beds, a wood-burning fireplace, a Scandinavian-style lounge, a fully equipped kitchen and a barrel-shaped wood sauna—offering warmth and refuge after cold, clear nights under the polar sky.

Rather than a conventional Arctic expedition, the itinerary focuses on maximizing opportunities to see the colorful Aurora Borealis. The journey begins in Oslo and continues north to Svalbard, an Arctic archipelago positioned between mainland Norway and the North Pole that offers exceptional polar conditions for northern light viewing.
“To have the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights you need a polar sky,” said Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel. “Where the sun does not rise, and by traveling as far north as possible, the probability of seeing brilliant auroral colors increases significantly.”

The trip is priced from $3,252 per person, based on two travelers, and is available January–May 2023. The package includes all meals, one night at Oslo’s boutique Amerikalinjen Hotel, two nights at Funken Lodge in Longyearbyen, one night at Juva Cabin, transfers and guided activities. International flights are not included.
