Pod Hotels Coming to Washington, D.C. — New Micro-Hotel Opening

BD Hotels will introduce its affordable and efficient Pod Hotels concept to Washington, D.C., in fall 2016. Situated in the vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood, Pod DC will offer well-appointed guestrooms and active communal areas designed for socializing and convenient travel.

The micro-hotel model is built to meet the needs of today’s discerning travelers. Developed by Modus Hotels, a Washington, D.C.-based owner and operator of upscale lifestyle properties, Pod DC is the third Pod Hotels location and the first to open outside New York City.

“Expanding Pod Hotels to D.C. reflects the wide appeal of our micro-hotel approach,” said Richard Born, hotelier and co-founder of BD Hotels. “We anticipate Pod DC will draw the same diverse mix of guests who visit our New York properties: travelers from across the United States, Europe, Asia and South America, spanning a broad age range, who want an affordable, stylish place to stay that makes it easy to explore the city and connect with others in well-designed communal spaces.”

Pod DC will offer 245 guest rooms in various layouts—double, queen and bunk configurations—featuring built-in storage, modern technology and water-efficient bathrooms. The property will include approximately 12,000 square feet of public space, encompassing a full-service bar, a restaurant, a rooftop lounge and shared work areas that cater to both leisure and business guests.

Located in Penn Quarter, Pod DC will be within easy walking distance of major attractions such as the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian museums, the International Spy Museum and the entertainment venues around the Verizon Center, as well as a wide selection of theaters, restaurants and public transit options.
