The Park Hotel in Tokyo maintains a long tradition of celebrating local art and culture. Its latest exhibition, titled KARUTA Exhibition, will be on display through Feb. 5 and will return from Feb. 13–26.
The hotel stages four art exhibitions each year to reflect the distinctive Japanese aesthetics of each season. This winter’s show centers on karuta, a traditional Japanese card game, and artworks inspired by it will be displayed in the ART Lounge and across the hotel’s dining areas.
In addition to rotating exhibitions, the Park Hotel operates Artist Rooms: guest rooms transformed by invited Japanese artists who paint the walls and ceilings during their residencies. Each Artist Room is created around the overarching concept of the Beauty of Japan, turning accommodation into immersive artwork. The most recent Artist Room is The Tale of Genji, the 27th installment in the series.
Tokyo-based artist Takushi Mizuno commented on the project: “The Tale of Genji is a literary work and cultural heritage. I expressed the mythical atmosphere which I felt through the story in this Artist Room.”
Through its seasonal exhibitions and Artist Rooms, the Park HotelTokyo continues to integrate Japanese aesthetics and hospitality into every corner of the property. By offering carefully curated art programs and immersive guest experiences, the hotel aims to provide visitors with a deeper appreciation of Japan’s cultural traditions and artistic sensibilities.
