In Annie’s Airport Journey, visitors follow her through a detailed 3-D replica of MCO’s terminals A and B, including check-in counters, dining areas, native Florida plants and other notable airport features. The experience integrates useful, real-time information such as TSA wait times and 3-1-1 reminders, alongside practical TSA tips like bin reminders. Additional elements include highlights of concessions and playful hidden “Easter eggs” to discover.

The content is displayed on LED video walls at the airport’s West Checkpoint and is built to reflect the look and feel of MCO. Key features of the installation include:

  • Eight distinct scenes inspired by MCO’s terminal architecture
  • More than 1,000 animated elements and over 100 custom characters
  • Live API integrations that provide real-time updates for travelers
  • Airport-specific details such as native Florida trees, MCO’s recognizable carpet pattern, and Synect’s ReadySeeGo technology

“Annie’s Journey is informative, uplifting, and unmistakably MCO,” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Partnering with Synect, we’ve transformed the checkpoint into an engaging, branded experience using a content-first strategy and our Passenger360 platform, which connects guests with real-time information and a variety of airport amenities.”

The new experience aims to improve passenger satisfaction by offering both entertainment and practical guidance during the security process. By combining immersive visuals, local details and live data feeds, the installation helps travelers feel more informed and relaxed while navigating the checkpoint. Airport officials see the project as part of a broader effort to modernize the passenger journey at MCO, using digital storytelling and timely information to enhance the overall airport environment.

Travelers passing through the West Checkpoint can expect short, visually rich scenes that provide immediate utility—such as where to find concessions and what items should go in screening bins—while also delivering a cohesive sense of place that reflects MCO’s design and regional character. The experience is intended to be both practical and memorable, adding value to everyday travel routines without creating distraction or delay.
