Norwegian Launches Nonstop Singapore to London Service

Norwegian Air will introduce a new non-stop service between Singapore Changi Airport and London Gatwick starting on Sept. 28. This route is the first long-haul connection launched by the airline’s new Norwegian UK subsidiary and is part of a broader plan to expand its presence across the United Kingdom.

The schedule begins with four weekly round trips, increasing to five weekly flights during the northern hemisphere winter season. Operations will be conducted using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured with 344 seats across two classes. Tickets for the new route are currently available for purchase.

Bjorn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian Air, highlighted the demand for affordable long-haul travel demonstrated by the carrier’s transatlantic services. He said the new Singapore–Gatwick link gives UK travellers a cost-effective option for reaching Asia and adds to the airline’s growing UK network: “Travel should be affordable for all, so adding Singapore to our growing UK network will give passengers even more choice for affordable, quality travel to a range of global destinations.”

Lee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport Group, noted that improvements in aircraft technology and changing passenger preferences have allowed low-cost carriers to expand into long-haul markets. He said Changi Airport will continue collaborating with airline partners to identify opportunities to grow operations and serve demand: “We will continue to work with our airline partners to exploit other such opportunities to grow their operations at Changi.”

This new service connects two major aviation hubs and targets both leisure and business travellers seeking competitive fares without the need to transfer. The direct link between Singapore and London Gatwick provides a convenient option for passengers travelling between Southeast Asia and the UK, and it reinforces Norwegian’s strategy to broaden its route network using modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

Passengers flying the route can expect Dreamliner amenities designed for long-haul comfort, while the two-class configuration aims to balance affordability with enhanced options for those seeking extra comfort. As with other long-haul low-cost operations, optional extras and a clear fare structure will allow travellers to tailor their experience based on budget and preferences.

As the route begins operations, both Norwegian and Changi Airport are positioning themselves to capture rising demand for direct, value-driven long-haul travel. The seasonal increase in frequency during the winter months reflects anticipated higher demand for winter travel to and from the UK.

With the launch of the Singapore–Gatwick service, Norwegian expands its international footprint and offers passengers another direct connection between Europe and Southeast Asia, reinforcing competition on long-haul routes and providing additional travel choices for customers.
