Maui’s Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, will host Hawaiʻi’s first Nobu restaurant, set to open next summer. Nobu at Grand Wailea expands the celebrated Japanese restaurant empire founded by Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert De Niro to the islands, bringing the brand’s signature cuisine and hospitality to Wailea Bay.

The new Nobu will span more than 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining, featuring a dedicated sushi bar, bold murals, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Menus will highlight iconic Nobu dishes such as black cod with miso and yellowtail jalapeño, alongside the acclaimed sushi and sashimi offerings the brand is known for. Guests can expect a refined yet relaxed atmosphere that complements the resort’s oceanfront setting.

“We are deeply excited to bring the Nobu signature dishes and dining experience that guests have come to cherish to Wailea Bay,” said Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. “The opportunity to share the classic dinner, alongside a curation of menu items exclusive to Grand Wailea, is a source of pride for us and allows us to expand the brand’s footprint within Hawaii with an aligned hotel partner.”
Nobu at Grand Wailea joins the resort’s recent culinary additions, including Olivine, which debuted in June 2023 and focuses on handmade pastas and seasonal dishes that combine local Hawaiian ingredients with Italian flavors. The new Nobu will sit alongside the resort’s signature restaurant, Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa, which was relaunched in 2023 and features an award-winning, locally inspired seafood-focused menu.
The arrival of Nobu at Grand Wailea underscores a broader trend of luxury hospitality and high-profile dining partnerships in Hawaiʻi. For travelers, the restaurant promises a memorable dining destination that pairs Nobu’s globally recognized menu with the natural beauty and cultural richness of Maui.
Details about reservations, opening events, and any exclusive menu items for the Grand Wailea location will be announced closer to the opening date. In the meantime, guests and local diners can look forward to a new option for refined oceanfront dining when Nobu opens its doors in Wailea next summer.
