On Aug. 28 the new Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa opens its doors, inviting travelers to one of Switzerland’s most spectacular alpine settings. Perched on a forested ridge with sweeping 180-degree views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Lucerne, the hotel is part of the 148-acre Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne complex and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The property emphasizes wellbeing and healthy living while offering a refined luxury experience.
Guests arrive by high-speed catamaran to the hotel’s private dock and then board the newly restored historic funicular, which delivers them directly to the hotel lobby. The adjacent spa encompasses 107,000 square feet of wellness facilities, including private spa suites, a 24-hour fitness center, a dedicated yoga studio and an extensive wet area with a traditional Hammam, saunas, whirlpools and hydrotherapy pools. An indoor pool sits beside the Alpine Gardens, and a 1,383-foot heated infinity pool wraps around two sides of the spa, providing year-round panoramic views.
The hotel features 102 guestrooms and suites, each designed to maximize the surrounding scenery with large windows and, in many rooms, brass fireplaces. Interiors favor natural materials such as wood and stone: American walnut parquet floors, oak cabinetry and furnishings by Italian and Swiss designers create a warm, contemporary atmosphere. Bathrooms are finished in Italian marble and include walk-in rain showers and double bathtubs positioned to take advantage of mountain and lake vistas.
Rooms are equipped with modern technology to ensure comfort and convenience. Amenities include 49-inch LED televisions with a broad selection of channels, Bose sound systems, in-room tablets, data ports, cordless phones and complimentary WiFi and cable. Dining and entertainment options cater to varied tastes: the Lakeview Bar & Lounge offers scenic relaxation, while Spices Kitchen & Terrace presents a menu influenced by Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Thai culinary traditions. Additional facilities include a 66-seat private cinema, an extensive wine cellar and an elegant cigar lounge.
