A recent AARP survey, released alongside the National Park Service centennial, highlights how national parks appeal to Americans of all ages.
The survey found that 70 percent of U.S. adults have visited a national park, and 96 percent of those visitors strongly recommend the experience to others. The Grand Canyon ranks as the nation’s most popular park. On average, visitors spend about 2.5 days at national parks, though activities vary by generation: baby boomers favor scenic drives, Generation X enjoys museums and picnicking, and millennials are most likely to observe wildlife. Hiking is a top activity across every age group.
Separately, AARP is running a sweepstakes for U.S. residents aged 45 and older. Prizes include two grand awards: a 2016 Volvo V60 Cross Country and a trip for two on the AARP National Parks Tour with Collette Travel.
