More Than an Airport: Exceeding Passenger Expectations

In just 13 years, Incheon Airport has evolved from a greenfield gateway on Seoul’s outskirts into one of Asia’s largest and most successful airports. Its thoughtful design, advanced IT systems and traveler-focused facilities quickly made Incheon a preferred choice for passengers.

Fly Incheon Airport to the World

By the end of 2013, 88 airlines operated at Incheon Airport, serving 182 cities across the globe. From its opening in March 2001 through 2013, the airport handled 2.4 million aircraft movements, 372 million passengers and 28 million tons of cargo. In comparison to 2001—when Incheon welcomed 14.5 million passengers, managed 86,839 flights and processed 1.2 million tons of cargo—these figures reflect dramatic and sustained growth: 41.4 million passengers, 271,224 aircraft movements and 2.4 million tons of cargo by 2013.

More Than an Airport

Incheon Airport offers some of the fastest and most convenient immigration services in the world. Average processing times are about 11 minutes for arrivals and 19 minutes for departures—approximately three times faster than the level recommended by ICAO.

Beyond efficient processing, Incheon provides a breadth of amenities and services designed to enhance every traveler’s experience. Comfortable eco-friendly rest areas and a range of lounges cater to differing needs. Shoppers can explore AIRSTAR Avenue for competitive prices on well-known brands, while frequent theme events and promotions add variety throughout the year. Cultural attractions—including exhibits, museums, art galleries, craft workshops and live performances—line the passenger terminal and concourse, offering international visitors a meaningful introduction to Korea’s history and culture.

Beyond Your Expectation

Incheon Airport has consistently earned top recognition in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey conducted by Airports Council International (ACI). For nine consecutive years it achieved the highest scores in categories such as Best Airport in Asia-Pacific and Best Airport for 25–40 million passengers.

First winning the ASQ award in 2005—just four years after opening—Incheon maintained its leading position for many years. In 2011 the airport became the first to be inducted into the ASQ “Roll of Excellence,” underscoring its sustained global leadership and contribution to raising airport service standards worldwide. The coordinated efforts of roughly 40,000 staff and workers at Incheon Airport ensure service that consistently exceeds expectations.

Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition 2014

From October 7–9, 2014, global leaders across the air logistics supply chain convened in Seoul for the 27th International Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition, hosted by Incheon Airport and organized by The International Air Cargo Association. Held biennially across Europe, the Americas and Asia, this event is the largest and most prestigious gathering in the air cargo sector. The exhibition highlights products and services from every segment of the industry and typically draws more than 3,000 attendees.

Under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Creating Opportunities,” the forum featured seven workshops addressing key issues such as challenges faced by air cargo shippers, reducing paperwork, and improving advance data procedures. The event provided a platform for professionals to expand networks and collaborate on building a more efficient future for air cargo.
