Meliá Opens First Hotel in Austria: Vienna Luxury Stay Guide

Meliá Hotels International will expand its portfolio of more than 350 city and resort hotels with the opening of its first property in Austria in mid-February. Located 20 minutes from Vienna International Airport, the 253-room hotel is housed within Austria’s tallest building, the Donau-City Tower in Vienna, occupying 17 of the tower’s 58 floors.

All guestrooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows with integrated operable glass panels, complemented by contemporary furnishings and modern in-room technology. The new hotel includes two restaurants, a fully equipped fitness center, extensive meeting and event facilities, and a presidential suite on the 14th floor that offers a private lift and a boardroom with seating for 10 guests.

As Spain’s leading hotel chain, Meliá currently manages more than 90,000 rooms across 39 countries and four continents under its portfolio of brands: Gran Meliá, Meliá, ME, INNSiDE, TRYP by Wyndham, Sol, and Paradisus. This Vienna opening marks the brand’s continued focus on strategic market growth in Europe while enhancing its urban and resort offerings worldwide.

The new Vienna property is designed to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers. Its location within Donau-City Tower places guests close to Vienna’s business district and major conference venues, while easy access to the airport and public transportation makes it convenient for international visitors. The hotel’s flexible event spaces are suited for corporate meetings, small conferences, and private functions, supported by modern audiovisual technology and dedicated event planning services.

Dining options at the hotel aim to reflect contemporary tastes, with menus that emphasize seasonal ingredients and local flavors. The two on-site restaurants provide distinct atmospheres — one tailored for all-day dining and another focused on an elevated culinary experience. The hotel also includes areas for relaxation and socializing, such as a lobby lounge and spaces designed for informal meetings or after-work gatherings.

Meliá’s approach to service combines international standards with local touches, ensuring guests receive consistent quality while experiencing Vienna’s culture. The new property’s design and amenities reinforce the brand’s emphasis on comfortable, well-appointed rooms, efficient technology, and thoughtful guest services.

This opening reinforces Meliá Hotels International’s expansion strategy, broadening its reach in key European cities. With a diverse brand portfolio and a global network of properties, Meliá continues to invest in destinations that offer strong demand from both corporate and leisure markets.
